Frequently Asked Questions
How do you calculate a weighted grade?
Multiply each score by its weight, add the results, and divide by total weight. The calculator above does it live as you type.
What if my weights don’t add up to 100%?
Under 100% is fine — the tool averages across the weight entered and the solver uses the remainder. Over 100% means a typo: weights can’t exceed 100%.
Do blank rows affect my grade?
No. Blank rows are ignored completely. A zero you actually earned counts — enter it as 0.
What’s the difference between a weighted grade and a GPA?
A weighted grade is your score in one course. A GPA combines many courses, usually with bonus points for honors/AP classes. For that, use the GPA Calculator.
Can weights have decimals?
Yes — 12.5% works fine. The calculator keeps two decimals in the result.
My teacher uses points, not percentages. How do I enter that?
Convert each category first: points earned ÷ points possible × 100. So 45 out of 50 becomes 90%.
Does the calculator handle a dropped lowest score?
Yes — delete that row with the × button, or leave it blank. The average recalculates across the remaining categories.
How do I add extra credit?
Add it as its own row with a score above 100 (e.g. 105%), or add the bonus points to that category’s score. The math handles it.
Can teachers use this for a whole class?
Yes — run it once per student, or use the Class Grade Sheet in the Easy Grader for roster-style grading.
Is the weighted grade calculator free?
Yes. Every QuickerGrade calculator is free, with no signup and nothing uploaded.
